We specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of sleep-related breathing disorders
(SRBD), such as obstructive sleep apnea, central sleep apnea, cheynes-stokes
respiration, periodic breathing and complex sleep apnea. Furthermore, we
specialize in the management of sleep apneas, complicated with morbid obesity,
obesity-hypoventilation syndrome, COPD, emphysema, bronchial asthma,
congestive heart failure, non-compliance problems and others.
Obstructive sleep apnea is a chronic disease, like diabetes mellitus and
hypertension, which increases one's risk for heart attack and stroke if left
untreated. If left untreated, obstructive sleep apnea also predisposes one to
complications of uncontrolled hypertension, diabetes mellitus, atrial fibrillations
and others. It requires medical follow up by a sleep specialist to ensure sustained
efficacy and effectiveness of the prescribed therapy (either positive airway
pressure therapy, oxygen supplementation, oropharyngeal surgery [ i.e.
uvulopalatopharyngeal surgery, tonsillo-adenoidectomy, maxillo-mandibular

hours to take care of patients with sleep apnea, requiring continuous positive
airway pressure (CPAP), bi-level positive airway pressure (BIPAP) or adapt-servo
ventilator (ASV) therapy, with or without oxygen supplementation. Our goal is to
provide optimal therapy for the sleep apnea, patient education and optimum
patient compliance.
